Mediterranean July
The Union for the Mediterranean embassies in Ireland join hands to present a number of varied cultural events in an online Summer programme of films and lectures and music at the Cervantes Institute and Slovenian Embassy.
The Mediterranean is undoubtedly a cradle of mankind and its legendary cities evoke wisdom and art: Athens, Rome, Jerusalem, Alexandria, Algiers, Tangiers, Lisbon, Barcelona, Marseille, Dubrovnik, Piran, Valletta, Nicosia, Istanbul…
Today our nations face renewed challenges in times of climate change, energy and water scarcity, migrations and conflicts to solve to ensure peaceful coexistence. However, it is therefore essential that we know one another better and enhance our visibility in a globalised world simultaneously.
Culture is the instrument we have chosen for that task, and music, films and lectures will give the Irish public (online or at the selected premises) a taste of our identities, different and yet part of a vast mosaic that has been composed since time immemorial, of our shared heritage, wisdom and the blossoming of arts and sciences.
