In celebration of the International Day for Women and Girls in Science, the Instituto Cervantes of Chicago, in collaboration with ECUSA, invites you to a Speed Mentoring event to recognize women’s contributions to STEM and inspire future generations through connection and shared experience.
This global observance, established by the United Nations in 2015, highlights both the progress made and the continued need to advance equity and inclusion in science and technology. As STEM careers expand, students and early-career professionals are seeking meaningful guidance, representation, and pathways for growth.
This event brings together women scientists and STEM professionals from ECUSA with students and emerging professionals for a series of short, focused mentoring conversations. Participants will gain insight into diverse career paths, learn from real-world experiences, and build cross-disciplinary connections.
Featured Participating Scientist: Ana Mompeón Campos, PhD
Dr. Mompeón Campos earned her PhD in Physiology from the University of Valencia (Spain) in 2019. During her doctoral training, her research focused on the role of circulating microRNAs in acute myocardial infarction and endothelial cell function, as well as the effects of estrogen on endothelial-derived mediators and age-associated vascular dysfunction.
In February 2020, she moved to the United States to join the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at Northwestern University. As a postdoctoral fellow, her research has focused on advancing our understanding of molecular communication between endothelial and tumor cells during metastasis, with a particular emphasis on the molecular mechanisms underlying vascular malformations.
Through mentorship and community engagement, this event celebrates the leadership, innovation, and impact of women who are shaping the future of science and technology.
