Pachamama, the offering
In the celebration of Pachamama, everything we love and the best we have is offered to the Earth. This ceremony of Andean spirituality is full of gratitude to the great mother provider for everything she gave us and for everything we take from her. It is a new cycle of renewal and gives us the opportunity to ask for her blessing for the times to come and give back to her, a principle of reciprocity between being and nature. In this time of offerings we value the cycles of life, family, mother earth, balance and the sacred spirit of the Andean culture. Remembrance will take place also for our female ancestors. The offering, also known as “Payment to the Earth”, recognizes the journey, the life and the cycles, offering awareness, gratitude and recognition of what life gives us. All vibrations are invited to the table. The Apus, tutelary spirits of the mountains, which symbolize the masculine, strength and power, are represented on the large offering table with the color white: white flowers, white foods, white drinks. The color red is blood, rivers, earth and reproduces the vibratory frequency of the feminine. A shaman will perform a ritual for Mother Earth, explaining the meaning of the ceremony involving all the public. The artists will make offerings at the ceremony. Ana De Orbegoso will gift participants a ceramic vessel in the shape of hands to plant a seed “sowing seeds and our dreams,” that we will take home to take care for and watch grow. Yapci Ramos will scatter volcanic ash from her Guanche homeland in the Canary Islands, and Erika Harrsch will share an offering from her country, Mexico. This celebration will be the closing of the exhibition.
