For the second consecutive year, the Cervantes Institute in Los Angeles is collaborating with the Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) to promote Spanish cinema. For the 2026 edition, the PSIFF has selected seven films, in addition to Calle Málaga, directed by Maryam Touzani, starring Spanish actress Carmen Maura, which will open its 37th edition on Friday, January 2. The official closing screening will take place on January 11 and will feature Brian Cox's film Glenrothan on Sunday, January 11. Between January 2 and 12, the prestigious festival will screen 169 films from 72 countries and territories, including 53 premieres (3 world premieres, 6 international premieres, 10 North American premieres, 12 US premieres, and 22 Californian premieres). In its 2026 program, the festival will offer the audience the chance to see 44 of the international films submitted for the Oscars.
