Zonazine Documentary is a regular programme from the Instituto Cervantes. Its name is taken from one of the sections of the Malaga Spanish Film Festival, with whom we co-organise, every year, this cycle of contemporary documentaries made by Spanish and Latin American film creators is devoted to formulas of experimentation and chronicles of reality.
In this 2022 series, we present four documentaries directed by women, in which it is easy to recognise a different formulation of political and social concerns, ranging from an investigation about the self -as an unavoidable vital questioning- to the ecological and humanitarian denunciation as a painful feature of our contemporary life: the idea of migration and movement runs through this cycle as a characteristic feature of our world that sometimes harbours hope and other times sadness or despair.
