20 Years of Comics: A Conversation Grupo Duende

To mark the opening of the exhibition “20 Years of Comics” at dlr LexIcon, we present a conversation between the curator of the exhibition, Gerardo Vilches, and Michael Connerty (IADT). An evening to enjoy of the best Spanish comics surrounded by drawings and colours. 


Gerardo Vilches (Madrid, 1980) PhD in Contemporary History and Social Sciences teacher in European University and in Master’s Degree “Comic and Education” of Universitat de València. He is the co-director of the journal CuCo, Cuadernos de cómic and author of Breve historia del cómic (a brief history of comic) (2014), El guion de cómic (the comic script) (2016) and La satírica transición: revistas de humor político en España (the satirical Spanish transition: political humour magazines in Spain) (1975-1982) (2021). 

Dr Michael Connerty is Co-chair of the Animation programme at IADT, Dun Laoghaire, where he teaches Film and Animation History and Visual Culture. His research interests include the early evolution of comics and his book The Comic Strip Art of Jack B. Yeats has recently been published by Palgrave Macmillan.
