magallanes y la vuelta al mundoThe Cervantes Institute of Sydney is proud to present the virtual conferences on the First Around the World, organized together with the Embassy of Spain in Australia and with the collaboration of the UNED. From October 24 to November 7 we will offer in the culture section of the website of the Instituto Cervantes de Sídney the online projection in Spanish and with English subtitles of the documentaries 500 years of the first round the world: La armada española de la Spice and The Great Journey of Magellan and Elcano. On October 29 the opening of the conference will take place, broadcasting live via zoom from the Gabriela Mistral auditorium / library, making connections with Canberra and Spain to be able to celebrate the event virtually by offering an interview to the writer of the book "Elcano, viaje a history, (current number 1 in sales in amazon in the section of the history of the golden century), whose author is the engineer Tomás Mazón. The interview / conference, which will be presented virtually by representatives of both the Instituto Cervantes Embassy of Spain in Australia, will be in charge of the Consul General of Spain in Sydney Mr. Juan Manuel Molina-Lamothe. On November 5 the closing of the conference on the 1st round the world will take place with the virtual live interview via zoom to the Spanish historian and current Research Professor of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), Alfredo Alvar. The interview will be conducted by Raquel Romero, current director of the Instituto Cervantes in Brasilia and General Coordinator of the Instituto Cervantes in Sydney. Both conferences / interviews will be held in Spanish with simultaneous interpretation into English and 15 minutes of time will be offered at the end of the events so that the public attending via zoom can ask questions to the panelists.
