On November 5 at 8:00 p.m. (AEST) the closing of the conference on the First Around the World will take place with the virtual live interview via zoom to the Spanish historian and current Research Professor of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), Alfredo Alvar. The Director of Culture of the Instituto Cervantes, Raquel Caleya, will offer a few words of welcome to close these virtual conferences on the First Around the World of Magallanes-Elcano. Next, the interview with Alfredo Alvar will begin. Interview by Raquel Romero, current director of the Instituto Cervantes in Brasilia and General Coordinator of the Instituto Cervantes in Sydney. The conference / interview will be conducted in Spanish with simultaneous interpretation into English and will be offered at the end of the events 15 minutes of time so that the public attending via zoom can ask questions to the panelists. Alfredo Alvar Ezquerra (Granada, 1960) is a Spanish historian, an authority on the modern history of Spain. He is currently a Research Professor at the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), at its Institute of History in Madrid. He is also a corresponding Academician of the Royal Academy of History. He has been awarded the Encomienda de Isabel la Católica (2015) and, among other distinctions, received the Villa de Madrid Award "Ortega y Gasset de Ensayo y Humanidades". He was an associate professor at the Complutense University of Madrid. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Royal Matritense Economic Society of Friends of the Country, for more than two decades, in which he directed the courses of History and Scientific Dissemination of the institution and directed the Torre de los Lujanes magazine. Likewise, he presided over the Institute of Madrilenian Studies for a term.
