In 2026, the Instituto Cervantes of New York inaugurates Amster Yard Sounds. Classical, an ambitious program dedicated to chamber music performed by young emerging artists and curated by soprano Elizaveta Kozlova. Over the course of six concerts in the intimate setting of Amster Yard, the series revives a repertoire that crossed oceans and centuries—from the refined courts of Renaissance Spain to the vibrant missions of the Americas. Four main concerts trace this musical journey, presenting Iberian treasures for strings and keyboard, Baroque echoes from Bolivia and Peru, works from the Franciscan missions of California and New Mexico, and festive villancicos and dances from colonial Mexico and Peru. To broaden access, two family concerts invite audiences to explore this heritage up close, offering hands-on introductions to Baroque instruments, rhythms, storytelling, and live demonstrations. More than a concert series, Amster Yard Sounds is a celebration of cultural bridges, young talent, and historical discovery: an invitation in 2026 to experience the music that shaped identities across continents, performed by the next generation of artists.
