The Great Tempranillo Tasting: Rioja, Ribera and Toro
Rioja, whose reds established the benchmark of Tempranillo for over a century, has been undergoing a dramatic revolution in the last twenty-five years that is making it more exciting and diverse than ever. At the same time, Ribera del Duero burst into the spotlight with majestic, age-worthy, tannic yet silky wines. And then the new Toro wines stormed into Spain’s wine scene with opulent and powerful reds. In this tasting seminar we will enjoy some of the great reds made in this century with the noble, age-worthy, and versatile Tempranillo, in Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Toro, as well as some great tempranillos produced outside of the official wine appellations, and compare their diverse styles.
