Beatriz CifuentesLanguage and Identity: diversity, context and inclusion The II Annual Congress of the Instituto Cervantes in New York, on Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22, 2023, will be held in New York City for the second edition, under the general title: Language and identity: diversity, context, and inclusion. The congress is conceived as a meeting forum for specialists in linguistic, cultural, scientific, technological, political, social, economic fields, with language as the common thread, to debate, highlight and reflect on the current situation and position of the Spanish language in the world in the different areas and manifestations in which it is present. The Annual Congress of the Instituto Cervantes in New York is made up of an academic program and a cultural program, and aims to analyze, through each of the axes themes that make it up, how language and society are related. The congress will serve as a forum for reflection on the situation and challenges of the Spanish language, which today is shared by almost 600 million people around the world. The academic program, made up of 3 plenary sessions and 3 round tables, will be articulated around different thematic axes: «Language and society»; «Language and health»; «Language and gender»; «Language and teaching»; «Language contact and bilingualism» and «language and diverse abilities». Likewise, the cultural program of the congress will include exhibitions and artistic performances parallel to the academic program.
