Fernanda Jorge Parodi

Premiere of "Fernanda"

The Instituto Cervantes of New York, Opera in Williamsburg, and Opera Hispánica present the premiere of Fernanda, a new chamber version of the immensely popular Zarzuela Luisa Fernanda by Moreno Torroba and Fernandez Shaw, arranged by Opera Hispánica’s General and Artistic Director Jorge Parodi.

Featuring American Peruvian mezzo soprano Kelly Guerra as Fernanda, Uruguayan baritone Marcelo Guzzo as Vidal, Mexican tenor Cesar Delgado as Javier, and Puerto Rican soprano Laura Soto-Bayomi as Carolina, this heartbreaking story involving class and political conflict is set in the troubled times of late XIX century Spain.
