Contemporary Female Space

Contemporary Female Space Patchwork (María Manero, 2018). Cortesía de María Manero Muro, Gala Fiz y Laura Ávila

"Female space" is a stable program of the Instituto Cervantes that has been presenting an annual cycle dedicated to female culture since 2010. This year, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the cycle, we are showing some of the most interesting cinematographic proposals made by female filmmakers in recent years. The four feature film program, which includes two fictions and two documentaries, has been designed by Mujeres y Cine, a group of filmmakers and university communication and film teachers, whose scope of work addresses the production and visibility of women's cinematographic creation. In addition, as is customary in the programming of this cycle, a final session dedicated to the short film directed by women, Cortos en feminino, is presented with four titles selected by Trama - the coordinator of film, video and multimedia exhibitions and festivals made by women— which, as in the case of feature films, present four young and feminine ways of understanding cinema.
