The Jury

The Jury Miquel Hervás

In an era in which so-called post-truth has come to dominate political and media discourse, this film takes a radical stance. The camera points directly at the faces of a jury that must decide the fate of a man who stands accused of murder. Bombarded with information and expert testimonials intended to sway them one way or the other, all we see are their expressions, some confused, others outraged, but all intent on making the right decision. A microcosm of modern political reality, The Jury is a mirror in which we see our own faces reflected, as spectators and as members of a society in which the concept of truth has been so undermined that we risk losing what little trust we have left. By deliberately leaving out the facts, we have only the reactions of the jury to go on, forcing us to take stock of our own relationship with society as individuals. García del Pino succeeds in confusing us, only to lead us to a revelation.
