In the Library Corner
From March to December 2026, Instituto Cervantes New York presents In the Library Corner, a series of intimate gatherings —limited to 20 participants— designed to foster reflection, intellectual exchange, and small‑format cultural creation. This series of four sessions, in principle, is structured around four key areas of work in 2026: Thought, Didactic Material for Teaching Spanish, Writing and Editing in New York, and Let’s Talk About Film.
The program aims to offer a close, dynamic, and rigorous space where specialists, writers, teachers, and the public can engage in dialogue on essential topics that shape the Hispanic cultural tradition and its contemporary presence.
Throughout the year, each session will explore a different focus: the School of Salamanca and its influence on Baroque literature, commemorating the fifth centenary of this essential current of Western thought; the creation of didactic materials for ELE, examining innovative methodologies for teaching Spanish; a conversation on writing and editing in New York, giving voice to professionals from the city’s Spanish‑language publishing ecosystem; and, finally, a session dedicated to Spanish cinema, centered on absurd and surreal humor, serving as a prelude to the virtual film club in November.
This series seeks to strengthen the library as a vibrant meeting point for the Spanish‑speaking community —a place to think, learn, and create together.
