We close the year on our Vimeo channel with the celebration of The Shortest Day [ED+C], an initiative that recognizes the format and expressive forms of short films.

For this edition, we invited the Rural FilmFest festival to curate a program that confronts us with the growing concern for sustainability and the care of our planet—a demand placed upon us by the current Anthropocene. Thus, the four short films that make up this year’s cycle, titled “Rural Cinema: A Tool for Wisdom and Understanding,” spark different ideas and express themselves in diverse tones to bring us closer to spaces in Spanish and Mexican geography, as well as to the experience and culture they have treasured for centuries.

The short films in this showcase invite us to embrace new ways of engaging with these environments in a non-intrusive and non-destructive manner. Undoubtedly, the program they form carries the idea that we must act—and that perhaps there is still time to change things.
