Artist Talk in Spanish at the Met: Textile as a Shared Language
Inspired by global traditions and practices such as those of El Anatsui, as well as Dida, Marshallese, and Papuan artists, this talk explores textiles not only as an artistic medium but as a language capable of telling stories, transmitting memory, and shaping identity. The use of fibers, recycled materials, and hand processes opens a dialogue between tradition and contemporary practice, inviting a reconsideration of the notion of “modernity” in a globalized world.
