Rioja: past, present and future

For over a century the venerable, traditional and aged reservas and gran reservas from Rioja set the standard for Spain’s red wines. However, in the last two decades Rioja has experienced its most transformative revolution since the 19th century. A new generation of winemakers started making ambitious wines in dramatic new styles, making Rioja more diverse than ever. As a result, Rioja is changing its regulations to recognize wines from single vineyards and villages. In this tasting we will assess Rioja’s history, current situation and promising future, and taste its traditional and new wines.
