The Indian reception of Don Quixote in the 19th Century

Despite the scarce political and cultural contacts between Spain and India throughout history, in the nineteenth century there were several attempts to translate or adapt Don Quixote to some of the languages of India. This conference will analyze two of these translations, Bengali and Gujarati, and the concept of translation that emerges from them.
