Tango in Cinema
The Embassy of Argentina, in collaboration with Instituto Cervantes New Delhi, is organizing this film series that features the art of tango as its protagonist. The objective of this series is to bring to the Indian audience a series of Argentine documentary films about tango as a cultural practice in different temporal dimensions: of memory, of history and of present practice. At the same time, these documentaries focus on the music and poetry of tango, often overlooked in a context in which dance is the main element in the "export" of tango. The series is aimed at both members of the Indian tango community and those film buffs who are interested in the interweaving of cinema with other art forms in a Latin American environment.
