Cuban Film Series
In collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba, the New Delhi center will organize a Cuban film festival, which will be held during the months of May and June 2024. This movie series brings us a reflection of Cuban society polictics and history covering themes as diverse as violence in response to the murderous dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, to important parts of Cuban history involving the life of José Martí. We are also made aware of the the tragic events that led to the brutal execution of eight medical students by the Spanish colonial authorities. Continuing with the theme of history there is one screening which is inspired by the life of Major General Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz, Major General of the Mambi army in the Camagüey region, his struggle for Cuban independence and his love affair with Amalia Simoni. Finally there are screenings for our young audiences and the vision of the world through their eyes.
