Monastery of Yuste, September 21, 1558. Emperor Charles V, decrepit and sick, like a Don Juan in his last night, agonizes, while the most important women of his life appear as nightmares. This is the play 'Letters to the Emperor', which a group of actresses is about to premiere at the Calderón Theater in Valladolid. But things do not go as planned.
