Films from Castilla y León
This series is an approach to film production in this Community, with productions by local filmmakers and talents who have the region as territorial framework for their screenplays, in an attempt to create a Castilian-Leonese cinema.
In a way, the films deal with the history and traditions of Castilla y León. On one hand, La controversia de Valladolid picks up the first debate on Human Rights between Bartolomé de las Casas and Ginés de Sepúlveda. Historical characters with current conflicts are the protagonists of Secundarias. Declining traditions such as transhumance and the palra dialect are dealt with in Pastoris; and issues of current interest such as rural depopulation or mental health are the starting point of Gallo rojo and Alegre y olé, respectively.
