New cinephilias online

"The other Spanish cinema" was the label with which the generation who started with cinema in the 21st century was named, filmmakers who sought to express themselves with new paradigms and who benefited from the freedom that the digital revolution entailed. Throughout these twenty years, this cinema has created a small niche, where new narrative models are experimented with. There is no doubt, new viewers have been born with them who recognize and await their traces: the ways of postmodernity, the visual quality, the formal audacity and the multiple representations of these films are some of the signatures they share and recognize creators and audiences. Undoubtedly, this "other Spanish cinema" has been defended at all costs by festivals, which resist as places where they (in)form and connect with contemporary moviegoers. Our program «New cinephilias online», co-organized with the Festival de Sevilla, is a proposal to give visibility to this new aspect of the most independent and creative cinematographic production of Spanish cinema, and also to recognize the programming and educational work that exist behind the culture of festivals.
