Escamas

In this short film, Katherina Harder delves into the investigation of the intimacy of people and the place that images have in our consideration of the world. The drive to work on representation and its meaning can already be found in her first short film Memorias del viento (2011). In Escamas the director shows us some tremendously human characters, women with insecurities and tensions, who clash and then unite in a relationship of healing and freedom. It has won many awards, including best international short film at the AMOR (Chile) and Cine las Américas (USA) festivals. Synopsis: Alicia feels uncomfortable in her own body after the mastectomy she had to undergo for breast cancer. A domestic accident leads her to meet her new neighbor, Lucia, a transsexual woman. Each will find in the other a pillar to lean on during the hard process of self-discovery and acceptance.
