Carmen

Antonio Gades was an excellent dancer and choreographer, director of the Spanish National Ballet, awardee of the National Dance Award (1988) and one of the great renovators of flamenco dance.

In collaboration with the filmmaker Carlos Saura, known for famous films such as Cría cuervos (Breeding crows), this production of Carmen is born. Carmen, which shows how the power and force of traditional flamenco can perfectly embody the intense emotions that pulsate in the work of Merimée, which tells the story of a Sevillian cigar-maker in search of love and freedom, a victim of the jealousy of her lover Don José. Carmen is performed by the dancers of the Antonio Gades Company, with Vanesa Vento as one of the current dancers of the Spanish National Ballet.
