«Compañera del Imperio»: Searching for Nebrija in Philippine Missionary Linguistics

In this lecture, which is part of the parallel activities of the exhibition "Nebrija in the Philippines. The importance of being a grammarian", Professor Marlon James Sales underlines the importance of the teaching of the humanist Antonio de Nebrija in the conception of missionary linguistics. Thanks to his influence, some of the Philippine languages (such as Tagalog, Ilocano, etc.) had grammars before several European languages.
