We are pleased to invite you to visit our exhibition NEBRIJA IN THE PHILIPPINES, which will be exhibited at the Instituto Cervantes (Intramuros) from March 12 to July 21, 2024. This exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines, the Antonio Nebrija Foundation (Madrid), the National Library of Spain and the University of Santo Tomas (Manila). We wish to highlight in this exhibit Nebrija's important cultural legacy and contextualize it within the publication of the first grammars of the vernacular languages of the Philippines, works that are inspired by his teachings. Thanks to Nebrija's influence, languages such as Tagalog and Ilocano had a structured grammar even before many European languages did.
