Story-time: El Periquillo Sarniento
Nick ChaffeInstituto Cervantes Manchester collaborate with Manchester Central Library and the National Literacy Trust in a multilingual Storytelling event to celebrate International Mother Language Day. Claire Culliford will read one of the stories from "El Periquillo Sarniento" by Mexican writer José Joaquín Fernández de Lizardi. An adventure book he wrote to introduce his children to reading, with stories full of adventure and picaresque, where "Periquillo" is a philosopher or barber, apothecary or colonel's assistant. Stories full of friends like Juan Largo "el Aguililla", Andresillo and others who join his adventures in the search for a worthy trade in his life.
