This conference will describe the main environmental problems that affect the health of the inhabitants of the cities, mainly those related to air and water quality. The means we have to minimize their impact will be described. 

Joan Grimalt was born in Palma de Mallorca and he is a Research Professor of the (CSIC), director of the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDÆA-CSIC) and of the Center for Research and Development (CID-CSIC).

Grimalt owns a PhD in Chemistry by the Autonomous University of Barcelona, as well as postdoctoral stages in the Oregon State University and the University of Bristol.
