Los caballeros de la mesa viruela

Los caballeros de la mesa viruela Nick Chaffe

Maite was a little girl who was afraid of needles and hated being given vaccinations. To make her fear go away, her grandfather decided to tell her the story of Los caballeros de la mesa viruela.

In this story, Knights, Los caballeros de la mesa viruela, were in charge of defending a prosperous kingdom and its happy inhabitants from possible invaders. To this end, the Knights prepared daily, devising strategies, crafting weapons and armour specific to each invader and recording the details of each battle they won. The Knights had always been victorious, no one could remember the last time they lost, so some of them, the most conceited, began to complain about the harshness of the training, arguing that it was not necessary because they were the best and could defeat everything, but their king did not listen to them.

One day, a great army of evil robots appeared and put the kingdom in danger. The Knights, who had never faced evil robots before, used all their weapons and tactics, but to no avail. Suddenly, one Knight discovered how to defeat the robots and, once the others started using the right tool, they wiped out the enemy army. After this battle, the King gathered his Knights together and told them that he had had these robots built, which were harmless, but were modelled on real, very dangerous robots that roamed the outskirts and could attack at any time. So, thanks to this, the Knights of the Smallpox Table learned the necessary techniques to defeat the evil robots. And that was the end of the story.

Maite's grandfather asked his granddaughter what she thought would happen when the real evil robots attacked, and Maite replied that the Knights would know how to defend themselves, so they would win. Grandpa then told her that that's what happens when you get a vaccine, and that's why they were necessary. For her birthday, Grandpa gave Maite a Knight costume, which she decided to wear on the day of her vaccination, which she was no longer afraid of.
