El rey de las flores
Laura VelascoThe first short film by actor and director Alberto Velasco offers a dual perspective on tradition, which is presented as a place that can either embrace or decisively reject everyone. The story of Victor, the central figure in the narrative, unfolds as his inner rage grows, and in doing so, the director draws from imagery of joy and nature to arrive at a dark and final destination. Synopsis: Ten-year-old Victor loves folk traditions. He already knows what it means for the thing he loves most in the world, which in his case is dancing, to be the thing that hurts him the most. His mother works tirelessly and also cares day and night for his bedridden stepfather, whose tongue is sharp and hurtful every time Victor comes near. When Victor dances, he transforms, laughs, dreams, and escapes from the reality he faces at home. What he never imagined is that the same violence he endured would become his own salvation.
