Are science stories a good tool for talking to children about science?

The Society of Spanish Researchers in the United Kingdom (SRUK), in collaboration with the Lilly Foundation and the Instituto Cervantes in Manchester, invite you to the official presentation of the book Science-me a story that compiles the winning children's stories from the first three editions of our science story competition. The presentation will consist of a round table with participation from the audience to discuss how we can make the most of this book for science education. There will be refreshments and plenty of time for networking among the public and participants.

6 pm. Welcome speeches.

6.15pm. round table: The use and unlimited potential of books in education and scientific outreach. How can we use Science-me a Story for science education? 

With the participation of: 

Claire Culliford. She writes and edits children’s books, novels and screenplays, and also uses storytelling in bilingualism context. She has used Science-me a Story in her storytelling and has been a member of the jury. 

Jules Pottle. She loves using stories to teach science, and has published several scientific books for children and works with storytelling school. She has been a member of the jury since the first edition. 

Isabel Peset Martin is a researcher where she uses microscopes to advance medicines discovery.  She loves children books an science. Co-founder of the Science-me a Story contest. 

The event will end with a social drink, and the opportunity to meet the authors, panels and organisers.
