Pablo Jofré. Street by street. Complete poetry Insert Press

The Cervantes Institute in Los Angeles, Insert Press, and North Figueroa Bookshop present a poetry recital by Chilean poet Pablo Jofré in conversation with Californian poet and translator Shook. The event is a recitation (by the poet himself) of Pablo Jofré's complete works between 2006 and 2020, recently compiled in an American edition entitled Street by Street (Entre tanta calle), translated from Spanish by Shook, whose own work Jofré has translated into Spanish. The volume includes five different collections of poems written between 2006 and 2020: Abecedario, Tú, Estado extraterrestre, Piel muerta, and Berlín Manila. A chronicle of the experiences of the poetic nomad, heir to the great tradition of Chilean writers in exile, from Mistral to Wilms Montt, Pablo Jofré's work has been praised by Will Alexander, who writes that his “condensed verbal scale” seems to have “sprung entirely from the uncorrupted verbal ether.” Pablo Jofré (born in 1974) is a Chilean poet who currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany. Jofré received the Lagar Prize from Chile's Gabriela Mistral National Literature Competition (La Serena) for his poetry collection Abecedario in 2009.
