Sundays
North American premiere of the film by Basque director Alauda Ruíz de Azúa. Synopsis:At 17, Ainara (Blanca Soroa) stands at a crossroads. On the verge of leaving high school—maybe starting university, maybe falling in love—she’s actually considering a life as a cloistered nun. The news destabilizes Ainara’s family. Particularly critical is her aunt Montse, (Patricia López Arnaiz). As a progressive, atheist, and family-conscious figure, she views Ainara’s decision as a setback and a surrender of many of her freedoms. Writer/director Alauda Ruiz de Azúa (Lullaby, PSIFF 2023) offers a moving and thought-provoking exploration of the fragile understanding between devoted faith and unshakable skepticism. Winner: Golden Shell, San Sebastián.
