Ox of Shells. Boi de Conchas
Boi de Conchas, by Brazilian director Daniel Barosa, is the second short film in the Brazilian short film program organized by the Instituto Cervantes in Los Angeles in collaboration with Brazil Screens.
Synopsis: While mourning her missing sister, Rayane balances helping her fisherman father and practicing for the school’s music festival – provided she doesn't become an ox first, a misfortune assailing several teenagers in the area.
Daniel Barosa graduated from the Universidad del Cine in Argentina and lives in Los Angeles after a decade of directing and producing in Brazil. Boi de Conchas premiered at Sundance and won the Grand Jury Award at Seattle. His feature Boni Bonita was supported by Eave and the Havana Film Festival, screening in Mar del Plata and Slamdance. He also directed the documentary GRU-PDX, acquired by Sundance TV, and the award-winning short A Tenista. He’s participated in workshops including Produire au Sud, Cine Qua Non, and the Film Independent Screenwriting Lab.
