Sunday's illness
Anabel has meticulously organised a glamorous charity dinner in her impressive villa, at the end of which she realises that Chiara, the daughter she abandoned thirty years ago is there. Chiara has only one purpose: that Annabel spends ten days with her. After that, she won't ask anything else. Salazar, who also wrote the script, masterly portrays the complex tensions between mother and daughter, the mixed love/hate feelings of the daughter and the stoic mother, confused by Chiara's provocations and self-destructive actions. The outstanding performances of the two actresses convey strong emotion supported by Ricardo de Gracia's photography, Sylvia Steinbrecht's art direction and Clara Bilbao's costumes.
