Winds of Africa.Third Root
In Latin America, the Afro-descendant population makes up a quarter of the population of the continent. However, it continues to be the group least represented in the narratives and in the popular consciousness in the countries with the largest number of inhabitants; especially Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico and Ecuador.Third Root is an itinerant programme co-organised with Al Tarab and the African Film Festival of Tarifa/Tangier – which has been taking place for the last seventeen years on both sides of the Gibraltar Strait. It brings together four feature films produced in Latin America that address the different realities of the Afro-descendant communities in this region.
