What do we want and how can we get it? What is reality and what do I remember? How can we shed light on our everyday lives? These are some of the questions that arise on reading Gustavo Rodríguez and Paul Lynch, who write stories about dignity, memory and imagination or, to put it another way, how to best live in community.

Cien cuyes (Gustavo Rodríguez) has been described as a tragicomic novel. Set in contemporary Lima, it guides us around the daily lives of a diverse range of characters who are facing into old age and the need to accept help while defending their dignity to the last. The fifht novel by Paul Lynch, Prophet Song, tells the story of a women who does whatever it takes to keep her family together, in an Ireland in the grip of a totalitarian government.
