What do we want and how can we get it? What is reality and what do I remember? How can we shed light on our everyday lives? These are some of the questions that arise on reading Gustavo Rodríguez and Paul Lynch, who write stories about dignity, memory and imagination or, to put it another way, how to best live in community.
Cien cuyes (Gustavo Rodríguez) has been described as a tragicomic novel. Set in contemporary Lima, it guides us around the daily lives of a diverse range of characters who are facing into old age and the need to accept help while defending their dignity to the last.
The fifht novel by Paul Lynch, Prophet Song, tells the story of a women who does whatever it takes to keep her family together, in an Ireland in the grip of a totalitarian government.

Biographies
Paul Lynch is a prize-winning author of five novels — Prophet Song, Beyond the Sea, Grace, The Black Snow and Red Sky in Morning. Prophet Song has been long-listed for The Booker Prize. He has won the Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year, and France’s Prix Libr’à Nous for Best Foreign Novel, among other prizes. He has been shortlisted for many international awards.
Gustavo Rodríguez is a Peruvian autjor and journalist. He has published serveral novels including Cien cuyes (Alfaguara Novel Award 2023). He is also a writer of children's books that are read in schools in Peru. His podcast Machista con hijas has been a success in the Spanish speaking countries.
Carmen Sanjulián is a Spanish language lecturer at Trinity College Dublin. Her research focuses interculturality and the development of critical awareness in language classes, with a view to promoting a diverse, inclusive society. In 2021, she was the recipient of a Teaching Hero Award in Ireland. She has delivered workshops on interculturality in a number of European cities.
