Thara

Presented as a mixed technique film, Thara combines a documentary approach with narrative through animation to achieve a freedom of expression that could only attained in this way. It is a candid depiction of the stories of transgender people who are pushed into night work and reveals how difficult the lives of these women can be in the countries of Latin America.

Synopsis: The story focuses on Thara, a Honduran transgender woman living with her mother. Society will not allow her to be a woman, and she has no option but to live by night as a sex worker. Still, she is prepared to risk everything and deal with prejudice, violence and the risks of sex work in order to be herself.
