Tesis
Why do we find death and violence so intriguing? Is it moral to show violent content in films? If so, should there be any limits to what we see? This is the theme for Ángela’s thesis, a cinema student on the hunt for audiovisual material to illustrate her project. In the process of investigating she finds herself inside what it seems to be a plot in relation to snuff movies (movies showing real violence and killings committed with the sole purpose of facilitating the recording of the film) in which some of her faculty classmates and professors may be involved.
Tesis received the Goya Award (the Spanish Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences Awards) to Best Film and Best New Director in 1997. It is also considered first box office success by the acclaimed director of The Sea Inside, The Others and Open Your Eyes.
