Next
Next looks at the world of girls and teenagers –from 6 to 16 years of age – that move to Los Angeles in the hope of achieving stardom in Hollywood. Often coming from small towns in the Mid-West, they can be seen rehearsing practically anywhere – even in supermarket queues. Their parents, who at times push them, follow them along their uncertain path. They bring them to auditions, to meet agents, to screenings and drama lessons. They rent rooms in motels before renting apartments on short leases – everything is provisional. All the while they continue to be seduced by the dream sold to them 24/7 on TV.
