Makun ['Don't cry']

Emilio Martí's works are evidence of his commitment to social issues that illustrate the problems of coexistence and solidarity in contemporary society. Since his multi-award-winning short film Desanimado (2011), he has continued to focus on vibrant stories with an educational and emotional impact, always through the medium of animation. This short, which has itself garnered multiple awards, reveals the harsh reality of Immigration Detention Centres (IDCs) and the personal experiences of immigrants.

Synopsis: Makun ('Don't cry') is an animated documentary film based on the drawings found on the walls of El Matorral IDC in the Canary Islands, and on the testimonies of three "undocumented" people who arrived in Spain on small boats or following long and arduous journeys through multiple countries.
