Garelako
Usue EgiaWith a song by Eneko Sagardoy as its thematic and narrative backbone, writer and animated film-maker Usue Egia uses several characters and stories to illustrate a call for freedom, so that each person can feel and define themselves as they wish.
Garelako, by Eneko Sagardoy: "The grey sky will suffocate us. We'll flee to the sun. They want to give us hearts of straw. Let us feel what we prefer. If a bird's wings are for walking, if a whale is refused the sea, all we will see is fiction. If a lie is above all words, we will keep moving forward, like it or not. If anyone is free, it's because we all are. Truly, we will live with or without you. You'll realise sooner or later. We're not monsters, we don't eat anyone. The sun warms us and the rain wets us. At last you see: we are flesh and blood, like you. Faggots and dykes, they call us. Enough nasty talk. Learn this and take it to heart: we are all created equal."
Synopsis: Like a music video, the animated images follow the rhythm of Eneko Sagardoy's song Garelako, telling the stories of different couples and characters who want to live out their identity and sexuality freely.
