Dejarse crecer el cuerpo (To Let the Body Grow)

Film-maker Andrea Gudiño created this animation documentary as part of her dissertation project, to offer us an understanding of sexual and gender identity. Her use of the experiences and personal accounts of real people who are not shown on screen, but rather are represented through an original use of materials and cinematographic techniques, accomplishes a tremendous visual and didactic impact, one of the most effective resources in animation documentary of this type. This short film is an interesting approach to different forms of understanding identity, body image and love.

Synopsis: The personal accounts of six real people with different gender identities (especially non-binary) overlap and follow each other in this short film, portraying their experiences and personal realities through stop motion and materials such as paper.
