International Day of Women and Girls in Science

In recent decades, the international community has made a great effort to inspire and promote the participation of women and girls in Science. However, they continue to find obstacles to function in the scientific-technological field. With the objective of achieving access and full and equal participation in Science, the General Assembly of the United Nations decided to proclaim February 11th as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. 


On the occasion of this celebration, the Instituto Cervantes will broadcast a video with the director of the Biobank of the National Cancer Research Center, Eva Ortega-Paíno. In it, the scientist makes visible the work of women who are dedicated to STEM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and defends the need to create female references that contribute to the choice of Science as a professional career, as well as promote practices that lead to achieving gender equality in the discipline.
