Josu Álava y Koldo LópezIñaki Arteta has a long history in acknowledging the terrorism victims’ side in the Basque conflict. He began his career as a documentary filmmaker engaged in contextualizing and elaborating a story on this conflict in 2004, when he presented Voces sin libertad (Voices without freedom). The film immediately captivated the public’s attention. In Bajo el silencio, Arteta addresses the traces of terrorism in the Basque Country after the end of the armed struggle in 2011, a twist in his his work that demonstrates his drive to highlight the story of those affected by violence.
