How aware are you of your digital footprint? Koidl covers present and potential challenges related to social media, social media related ethics and privacy concerns. He will also look into current and future issues, such as fake news, cyber bullying and self-reflection.

Mathematics underpins the theories of time evolution of systems, from the quantum scale to the human scale and beyond to the full scale of the universe. At planet-Earth scale, the study of fluids such as air, water and plasma has applications in different technological areas that we usually link with the future: climate change, nuclear energy, spaceships, Internet, renewable energies, etc. In this talk we’ll discover why Maths is relevant to all these areas of knowledge.

19:15 – 19:45  Fighting Sepsis: Present, Past and Future (Ignacio Martín-Loeches)
Sepsis is a very complex syndrome currently affecting millions of people across the globe. The number of people affected is increasing and is associated with enormous health care costs. Social awareness, early recognition, multidisciplinary approaches and shared protocols are some of the interventions that might dramatically change the management of patients.
