Enjoy literature in Spanish in this year’s International Literature Festival Dublin (ILFD).

Argentinean writers Ariana Harwicz and Samanta Schweblin participate in an extensive programme bringing voices in Spanish such as Colombian author's Juan Gabriel Vásquez and Alejandro Zambra's (Chile). Both authors, Harwicz and Schweblin, translated into English are considered by critics as two of the most influential voices in international literature. After the Latin-American boom, we are witnessing a rebirth of writers in Spanish language contributing to literature worldwide with unique, vibrant and innovative voices, enriching the literature of today. We invite you to listen to them in Dublin and to read them in Spanish or their works in translation to English.

Ariana Harwicz is one of the most radical figures in contemporary Argentinian literature. Her prose is characterised by violence, eroticism, irony and a direct criticism to the clichés surrounding the notions of family and conventional relationships. Her first novel, Die, My Love greatly surprised the most demanding critics and was named best novel of 2012 by the Argentinian daily La Nación.

Samanta Schweblin was chosen as one of the 22 best writers in Spanish under the age of 35 by Granta. She is the author of three story collections, El núcleo del disturbio, Pájaros en la boca y Siete casas vacías all deserving numerous awards, including the prestigious Juan Rulfo Story Prize, and been translated into 20 languages. Fever Dream is her first novel and is longlisted for the Man Booker International Prize. Originally from Buenos Aires, she lives in Berlin.
